SUP Water Polo Championships in Costa Brava… Team Mexi-Can goes undefeated in the pool…

It was quite a surprise for us here at Surf Mexico when we learned that the two staffers (Adam Finer and Jose Luis Caselin) that were sent to Spain to diligently gather information on the new Starboard line up for 2015… were spotted as in the picture below, with Edmontonian Warren Currie from The Easy Rider… Being crowned the SUP Water Polo Champions of 2014…. We asked them to explain.. and here is what they had to say…

Adam – The show in Spain was amazing, the new products are once again raising the bar, amazing innovation coming from Thailand and the growing team of Starboard International.

Interviewer – OK thanks Adam but this interview is about the Water Polo Championships…

Adam – Yes ok, we were approached early on in the event and asked to register our team for water polo, not knowing anything more than that, we partnered up with Warren Currie of The Easy Rider in Edmonton Alberta, and registered our team. Myself, Jose Luis Caselin and Warren.

At around 9pm the crowds gathered by the pool and the 20 registered teams that represented the entire world of Starboard Distributors and Dealers, were put onto a leaderboard.. The only rules were – 3 people per team in the water, 5 minute games, sudden death overtime after 5 minute mark…

We made it thru our first games that night and advanced to the semi final.. that is where things got interesting… The team started to gel and game after game we started to score faster and faster… somehow we played some extra games, but no one could score on us…

We found ourselves in the final against a stacked team from USA, with Dan Gavere as team Captain…

It was a great final, went into overtime, but we maintained our “no goals against” and as we moved the ball down pool for the final breakaway… crowds were screaming…and GOL!!!

Team Mexico – Canada – Team Mexi-Can we were instantly dubbed… And now everyone is going to come back and really want a piece of us next year!!!

Interviewer – Ok Adam can you tell us about the rest of the meeting?

Adam – Ok for sure, the new lines are amazing, Starboard SUP, Windsurf, Airush Kitesurf, Severnes Sails, all of it, its lighter stronger, faster, sexy…
