The Pro Sayulita SUP Open has once again electrified the State of Nayarit with a thrilling display of Stand Up Paddle (SUP) action, bringing together a stellar lineup of world-class athletes for an action-packed weekend.
Pro Sayulita has seamlessly transformed community projects into mainstream sports, uniting global champions with local talents and creating magic on the picturesque shores. Notable names such as Connor Baxter, Lucía Cosoleto (World Champion of 2022 and 2023), Juliette Duhaime, Itzel Delgado, Josselyn Alabi, Christian Andersson, and Max Torres (World Champion of 2023) have converged with Mexico’s best talents, including Sofia Finer (4th place finisher Panam Games), Papas Gonzalez, Fernando Stalla, Felipe Hernandez, Trace, and Alex Ostrowski.
The event, held at the vibrant Sayulita, not only showcased world-class competition but also fulfilled its purpose by raising awareness of the challenges faced by the magical town. The Pro Sayulita initiative aims to leverage world-class sporting events, negotiated ESPN airtime, and a commitment to the town’s future by channeling financial support to vital projects such as waste management and water treatment.
The Pro Sayulita Pro Open struck a perfect balance between SUP Racing and Surfing, featuring thrilling Starship World Championship races that captivated spectators and fostered significant crowd participation. The short-distance races, involving groups of 8-10 participants, including children, youth, and adults, highlighted the spirit of community and teamwork.
This event underscores Sayulita’s international standing and showcases its unity as a community devoted to inspiration, continuous improvement, and an unyielding pursuit of growth. The commitment extends beyond the event to the ocean itself, thanks to the invaluable support of sponsors who have played a pivotal role in caring for the athletes, as well as our playing field—the ocean.
